Ceylon Black Tea is made using traditional methods where freshly hand-picked 'two leaves and a bud' are gently withered, rolled, naturally oxidized to develop rich colors, and dried. From cool high-mountain peaks (like Nuwara Eliya) to sunny coastal lowlands (like Ruhuna), Ceylon Black Tea offers a wonderful range from light, floral teas to deep, sweet, full-bodied cups.
First grown for trade in 1867 by James Taylor at Loolecondera Estate in Kandy, Ceylon Black Tea replaced coffee after coffee plants were affected by disease. It quickly became the world benchmark for premium black tea.
